Wireless access point speeds at the end of the network are out-pacing the speeds of the installed cabling in the middle of the network. Is it possible that your installed cabling will handle speeds beyond design spec and will keep up with speeds of the new wireless access points? Is it possible to leave your CAT 5e and CAT 6 cables in place, and achieve 1Gbit/sec speeds?  10Gbits/sec speeds?

To find out, with the single press of a button, three key tests are run with the NetXpert XG. In one click, NetXpert XG performs a live speed test sending 1Gb/s through your cable (BERT), and will prove if the cable will perform beyond design spec and keep pace with the speed of newly installed access points.

NetXpert XG is the only cable tester and active network manager to perform BERT (bit error rate test), SNR (signal-to-noise ratio), and delay skew to 1G, 5G, or 10G speeds at the press of a button. By performing a Bit Error Rate Test (BERT) and standards based tests as per IEEE 802.3an, the NetXpert XG proves the error-free data transmission up to 10Gb/s.

A one touch auto test includes BERT, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and delay skew, all of which can impact Gigabit transmission.

Signal-to-noise ratio checks to ensure noise is low enough and signal is high enough for reliable transmission.  Delay skew indicates the signal time delay between the wire pairs. Excessive delay from one pair can result in a serious degradation of transmission performance making it impossible for the receiver to interpret the data stream correctly.

All three crucial measurements for determining reliable data transmission are performed at the touch of a button.  When you are ready to test the next cable, hit test again, and NetXpert XG advances automatically to the next cable being tested.  Each test result is automatically stored to a summary report and a detailed report in pdf, csv, or xml format.

The eXport reporting software allows the user to centrally manage test results for copper and fiber-optic cables in a single program. Measurement data can be quickly imported with the software from the certification device. A new compressed file format results in small file sizes without loss of detail and allows very fast data exchange. The reports can be saved both as PDF and CSV files. All results from both the WireXpert 4500 and the FiberXpert OTDR 5000 (*. Sor) can be centrally documented. The graphs can display the individual RF parameters documenting and certifying the installed cable’s ability to transmit the customer required Ethernet speeds.

Before a project even begins, cable installation project managers use eXport and the world’s first List-Based Testing tool to generate labels for cables and test labels.  Use the cable label generation tool to quickly generate 1000’s of cable labels to be printed and afixed to your cables and patch panels.  That same list of cables can be downloaded to the WireXpert where you now have a list of tests to run so you can certify cables efficiently in the order you require to complete the job fast.  If a test fails, or cable is not ready to test, move on while the cable is being repaired, select the cable you want to test, and now the job keeps progressing.

Integration of PROFINET I/O Devices through mapping into Ethernet IP Control systems


The epGate PN implements a gateway between an EtherNet/IP scanner (e.g. a Rockwell PLC) and up to 32 PROFINET devices. While the gateway’s upper RJ45 socket connects to the EtherNet/IP network as a so-called Adapter (slave), the gateway acts as a PROFINET controller (master) through its lower RJ45 socket. This allows for integration of PROFINET devices and subsystems into EtherNet/IP applications. The Communication Configuration Tool that comes with epGate PN assists in defining the PROFINET configuration and provides ready to use symbolic mapping information for the EtheNet/IP PLC’s engineering software. This way the user is relieved from the error-prone task of defining data for both sides of the gateway individually.
